A Tiki Hut is essentially another word for a Palapa. A palapa is simply the Spanish word for a shaded, open area using palm leaves as a roof, similar to a “tiki hut.” The Aztecs and Mayans originally used this word to describe their houses. Palapas are popular in southern Mexico, Central America, and are well-known among most tropical countries, beaches, and resorts around the world. They provide excellent shade and are a fresh retreat from intense heat.
We use the finest materials: all natural red cedar wood, Endureed synthetic palms, and synthetic rope for a rustic finish. Synthetic palms are more durable over the elements and are guaranteed to last 20+ years. The cedar frame in our palapas has a 20 year warranty.
Our synthetic thatches are fire resistant and come with over 20 years of warranty. They are class A fire rated.
Building the Tiki Hut will depend on how big the job is. If it’s a relatively simple palapa, then usually one to two full days from start to finish. When a customer pays their first half as a down-payment, the materials will be ordered and usually takes one to two weeks to come in. The cedar wood will have to be cut and prepared to specific measurements before being ready to construct on site. Another factor is how many jobs we have scheduled at that time.
